Kimmich sustained a knee ligament injury in January 2019 while playing for Bayern Munich against Eintracht Frankfurt. The injury required surgery, which took several months to recover from. In May 2021, it was announced that Kimmich had made a full recovery from his knee ligament injury and would be able to return to training.
However, in June 2021, Kimmich suffered a setback when he tore his cruciate ligaments in his right knee during a friendly match against Borussia Mönchengladbach. The injury required further surgery,Bundesliga Express and Kimmich has been out of action since then.
